SHEC, Small Holder Enterprise Centre is an initiative by the company to offer healthy and nutritious food to its employees at a very subsidized price and a demonstration farm for training small holder farmers how to utilize the little available land to produce healthy and nutritious vegetables through the use of Vertical Bag Farms and other sustainable agricultural technologies.
Some of the activities ran by SHEC include; Vertical Bag Farming, Poultry Farming, Kitchen Garden and Vermiculture.
Vermiculture is the cultivation of earthworms. The earthworms convert organic wastes into fertiliser known as vermi-fertiliser.
There are two types of vermi-fertilisers produced by the worms
Vertical bag farming is a high-yielding food security technology that utilises the vertical space to maximise on land and increase water efficiency. Real IPM uses Vertical Bags to make vertical farming possible.
Real IPM Vertical Bags are durable UV protected bags pre-punched with holes that increases production of leafy vegetables up to six times per square metre.
